Describe your day job in five words or fewer.
Corporate Mercenary
Angel or Spike?
Spike. His hair's way cooler.
What is your carbonated beverage of choice?
Depending on the day, either Coke Classic or Mountain Dew.
What's in your roti?
Shrimps.
Would you rather have no teeth or an extra finger?
I'm going to have to go with the extra finger on this one. Steak is pretty tough to eat without teeth. And having an extra finger would be really cool.
Greatest meggie moment?
That would have to be the one I gave to a complete stranger because I thought she was Holly at first glance.
What is your favorite palindrome?
Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog.
What do you plan to do during the summer of '06?
Finish my degree? Find a job? Do more recording with The Yellow? I don't know.
Pretty good for a fifth grader.
First thing you remember about Trinidad?
Blind trust of getting into the car of a man we had never met who was supposed to pick us up at the airport. Even after we arrived almost a day late.
Describe your music pedigree.
Started on piano as soon as I could sit upright on the bench. Played cello in 4th grade. The orchestra teacher (Miss Brown, I think) was more than happy to let me cross over to "the dark side" in 5th grade and play the trombone. That was a good choice and I thank you, Miss Brown, wherever you are. Mr. Sanders (not the Colonel) let me play the baritone and tuba in 7th grade. On a side note, my elementary school music teacher, Mr. Gallager, LOOKED like Colonel Sanders and he made me sing in front of the whole class in 4th grade which ruined me for singing (and fried chicken) for the remainder of my school career. I played bugle in the Jr. High stage production of "Tumbleweeds" as the (fortunately) one-line character "Trooper Dimblebee". (Top that, Thom!) Bachelor of Music (Sorry Ladies, I'm a married bachelor.)(I only say that because chicks dig drummers.)(Or so I've been told.) Now I teach music, band, and steel to whippersnappers. And I still remember my one line from "Tumbleweeds", thankyewverymuch.
Favorite thing to order at a sushi restaurant?
Salmon, Tuna, and the Philadelphia Roll. That's the one with cream cheese that gets deep fried, right?
What's in your wallet?
A bunch of receipts. Wallet lint. Shopping list for Home Depot.
What's in your roti?
Duck. Or goat. With potato. (This question makes me drool uncontrollably.)
What scents emitting from your current habitat (the desert/Tucson/Arizona) are enjoyable to you and/or your nose?
The citrus blossoms and jasmine are pleasant smelling right up until my nose expands to fill my entire head. And all ragweed should perish from the earth.
Would you rather be illiterate or a mute?
Most people I know would vote me into mute. However if I was illiterate, jfuh ard souir o ghihs aglod yuash.
A flavor, a favor, and a life saver.
Passion fruit. May I have a ride? Airbags.
C'mon, get in the boat!
Last snack food you ate?
Twizzlers.
Last object(s) you lost? Did you find it?
A miniDV tape I needed to capture. I did not find it. Robert did, though.
Last word you wrote down by hand.
pachyderm
What is your first memory?
I'm terrible at distinguishing true early memories and the things I've constructed from stories of my early years. I know my earliest sensation memories are of the terra cotta tiles of my house and the burn mark in the carpet at Aunt Peachie's where I would stand in the middle of the room and scream for no one to touch me because I'd inevitably get shocked. I'm a static magnet, and fearing dry climates + carpet is definitely a pervasive early memory.
Simpsons, Family Guy, or Futurama?
Simpsons
What was the last tv show you watched?
Inside the Actor's Studio
Would you believe me if I told you I've seen video evidence of Holly dancing while playing?
I wouldn't if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. At least, she looked a lot like Holly.
What is your favorite kind of doughnut?
Sucker for a Krispy Kreme plain ol' glazed, me. Or something crammed full of chocolatey or custardy or creamy goodness.
More drummers than Spinal Tap.
Jeff Friedl is the drummer on Miscalculated Dance Moves. He's also one of the hardest working drummers in any city and has recently decided he's too good for just one (he's right). He moved to L.A. and is about to take the music world by storm. Just you watch.
Dan Samson has been drumming for us since Jeff's departure. He's also the highly talented - and immensely patient - engineer on our CD.
We've played with the best of Tucson and beyond. Each one a talent and a joy to have with us.
If you're a drummer in Tucson, and you haven't drummed for Apoc, you don't know what you're missing. You really should try it. All the cool kids have. You want to be cool, don't you?
Some of the coolest kids:
Jeff Friedl. Dan Samson. Ross McGinnis. Jack Sterbis. Tina Walton. Dave Rodenkirch. Dave Walton. Mike Sammons. Dan Smithiger.
